To continue in our series of our favorite Virginia wedding venues, we are focusing on venues in Hampton Roads. We’re local to Virginia Beach, and as much as we love travel and destination weddings, we also like short drives up the road.

So, if you’re looking for a venue with historic value and a classy feel in the middle of a city, look no further than The Historic Post Office. The building began in 1914 as, you guessed it, a post office, and for many decades was the largest in the area. It’s been a number of things since then, but it became a gorgeous, modern wedding venue in early 2017. It is a timeless space with a customizable setting for your ideal wedding vision!

Any couple looking to host their wedding at the Historic Post Office will have exclusive use of the venue, and access to two gorgeous getting ready suites. You have the option to host your entire wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception indoors within the sprawling two-story space, although I’ve seen some couples take their festivities outside in the venue’s gated patio. As I said, it is a highly customizable space, and the timeless neutral interior lends its hand to being the perfect backdrop for any kind of wedding.

Planning your wedding at the Historic Post Office comes with the option of in-depth coordination service and a beautifully curated rental inventory. While certainty not necessary, coordination services are key to a smooth running wedding day. Planning should not be stressful and you should not have to worry about anything except getting married and celebrating. As far as wedding packages go, they can be built according to your needs- if you wanted to host your entire weekend of festivities at the Historic Post Office, you definitely could! Guest capacity is 250 when using both levels of the venue, but it is recommended that you host 175 or fewer just to keep things intimate on the first level. Packages also include set-up and breakdown so you and your people don’t have to worry about a thing except celebrating. That said, keep in mind that the latest your wedding festivities can end is 11pm and nothing can be tossed for your exit, unless it is biodegradable ad cleaned up afterwards. Sparkler exits are allowed! At the end of the night, The Landing Hotel is right next door. You or your guests can reserve a block of rooms there and not have to travel very far for the day!
