If only we could stay this cute forever.

I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that most people are at their cutest between ages 2 and 10.
Newborn babies are cute, for sure, but only a 5 year old can be eating dinner with you and say something like this, “One day, you gonna be sleepin’ in yo bed, and you gonna wake up to someone in your bed, AND IT’S GONNA BE ME!! And I’m gonna go to your fridge and I’mma eat ALL your food!” 

It’s hard to process something like that. You just have to laugh at the craziness.

That little rugrat up there with the fly outfit is me, right around the age I ran through the front yard screaming the only Spanish phrase I knew, the one my sisters in high school had taught me, ” ESTES NUDOS?!? ESTES NUDOS?!?” The man doing the neighbor’s lawn was rightfully confused. 

But how can you be mad at this face?
 

Silently plotting your destruction

The cutest thing kids can do is be exactly who they are. Like the toddler-bed-intruding-food thief I mentioned before. Children have a very weird set of priorities, at least from an adult perspective. 

I need this cake in my face I have no time for silverware.

This level of comfort is nigh impossible for adults.

One thing I think children prioritize correctly is honesty. Sure, every kid lies once in awhile, especially when they’re about to get in trouble, but, for the most part, children have little desire to represent themselves as anything other than what they are. A kid will tell you you’re a little fat, you look goofy, “WOW YOU’RE OLD”, etc. etc. and it’s not even mean-spirited. They’re learning about the world every day, enthralled by the new things they notice. Where you and I would be polite, a child will be honest. That makes for some interesting conversation.
